Black Friday 2021 Photography Deals

Black Friday / Cyber Monday 2021 is upon us, and with it brings tantalizing deals on photo and video hardware and software. Here’s a list of deals I’ve come across that mostly includes products I use, have reviewed, and/or featured on this website and my YouTube channel.

DxO Applications — 50% off all apps
I’ve reviewed both DxO PureRAW and PhotoLab this year, and found both to be solid RAW editing apps for all types of photographers. I’m especially big on DxO PureRAW, for it pre-processes RAW files using the exceptional optics modules and de-noising tech from PhotoLab but at a lower price. Especially love using it with older RAW images. 50% off is a crazy good deal, with no subscriptions or commitments.

Topaz Labs — Big discounts on all apps
Big sale at Topaz Labs on all their apps, including 60% off their Image Quality Bundle (3 apps for $100), Everything Bundle (all apps for $200), 25% off individual apps, and $200 off Video Enhance AI ($99). I reviewed the latter, and it’s awesome for upscaling 1080 to 4K and creating slow motion footage from video recorded at any frame rate. Gigapixel AI is also fantastic for upscaling lower res images to make large prints. Solid deals all around. Would absolutely buy the aforementioned apps if I didn’t already own them.

Capture One — 20% off first year of new subscription
Capture One will soon be releasing v22, which will include new HDR and panorama image compositing tools (yes!). This functionality is something I’ve long wanted in Capture One, and I’m thrilled to see it being added. Doesn’t appear to be a deal for existing Capture One users this year, but new subscribers can now get 20% off the first year of their subscription.

Adobe Creative Cloud — 40% off first year of new subscription
Adobe is also offering new subscribers a deal on their Creative Cloud platform (including Lightroom, Photoshop, etc). Now through November 26, 2021 new subscribers get 40% off Creative Cloud.

B&H is running a sale on a variety of Canon camera bodies, lenses, flashes, battery grips and more. Items that caught my eye include the EOS R ($200 off) and RP ($100 off), the RF 35mm f/1.8 Macro STM lens ($100 off), plus some older (but still good) EF lenses. Fantastic deal on Fuji’s medium format mirrorless camera. Camera body is $1500 off through B&H and Adorama, and there are similar deals when you add a lens.

Display calibration is vitally important when editing photos and videos. Accurate colors leads to more consistent results when making prints or posting your images online. I use (and reviewed) the Datacolor Spyder X, and it does the job. Great Black Friday deal at 41% off!

The original Atomos Ninja V was unquestionably one of my best gear purchases in the past couple of years. Love using it with both my EOS R5 and R6 to record video without worrying about overheating or Canon’s annoying 30 minute time limit. DJI Ronin SC Gimbal – $160 off
DJI is running a few Black Friday deals, but this one IMO is particularly good – $160 off the Ronin SC gimbal with free shipping in the US.

Bluetti Portrable Power Stations — Many products on sale
I recently reviewed a Bluetti Portable Power Station, and found it to be a solid option for photographers, videographers and filmmakers who need power in the field to charge camera batteries, drone batteries, phones, etc, or AC-powered hardware requiring a wall outlet (eg, lights). Bluetti sells a bunch of power stations and solar panels too for off-grid shooting anywhere, and many are now on sale.

Lighting

Nanlite PavoTube II 6C 10″ — 20% off
Great little RGBW tube lights that can be used for all kinds of photo and video work. I have two and use them quite often.

Godox VL150 5600K LED Studio Light – $100 off
Great continuous LED that can be used for photo and video work. 150 watts of power. This light does have an internal fan (compared to the completely silent UL150), but otherwise they’re pretty much the same light. Great deal if you’re looking for a high wattage continuous LED light.

Godox SL-60W – $40 off
Now costing only $99, the SL-60W is a great continuous LED light for the money. Fixed 5600k color temperature, bowens mount, plugs directly into a wall. Its fan is a little noisy, but for only $99 it’s a solid light. I used one for a long while before upgrading to the aforementioned 150 watt lights. Check it out.
